In the Political Science Department, we have long taken learning outside the classroom. As far back as the 1960s, we helped to create the “Crisis Colony,” which took students into Minneapolis neighborhoods struggling with challenges of inequality. That effort grew into a consortium of colleges across the country, the Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs (HECUA), and now includes programs around the world. Our students continue to engage in numerous learning experiences outside the classroom, in the Twin Cities region and throughout the country and the world.
