MAYOR’S CHALLENGE 2018 – SAVE THE DATE
The Great Education Debate
Presented by: The Minnesota Urban Debate League, a program of Augsburg University
Join us for a networking breakfast on Thursday, June 7th, 2018 from 7:30 AM – 9:30 AM at Augsburg University’s brand new, award-winning Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion. Exciting changes are bringing fresh energy to our 6th Annual Mayors Challenge!
The event welcomes the new mayors of the Twin Cities, Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis and Mayor Melvin Carter of St. Paul, as well as MN Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius, who will both adjudicate this year’s debate. The event will be newly hosted by Jana Shortal of KARE-11, and we will also honor our first-ever Champion of Change Award recipients: The Women’s Foundation of Minnesota and Representative Ilhan Omar.
With this year’s debate topic, Career and Technical Education, our students will engage in issues they live in the classroom every day. Attending the Mayor’s Challenge is an opportunity to greet the new mayors, network with corporate and organizational leaders who advocate for education, and meet our amazing students.
