Augsburg University is an educational institution that appreciates and endorses a healthy environment for its students, staff, faculty, guests, and community.

  • Smoking (including electronic cigarettes, personal vaporizers, and electronic nicotine delivery systems) is permitted only in designated outside areas (see map below)
  • Smoking (including electronic cigarettes, personal vaporizers, and electronic nicotine delivery systems) is prohibited in all indoor facilities, including residence halls, and is prohibited within 25 feet of all entryways, operable windows, and outdoor air intakes of all indoor facilities, including residence halls.

Those who smoke are also responsible for properly disposing of cigarette butts or e- cigarette waste.

The success of this policy will depend on the thoughtfulness, consideration, and cooperation of smokers and non- smokers. Everyone shares the responsibility for adhering to and enforcing the policy. In all cases the right of the non- smoker to protect their health and comfort will take precedence over a smoker’s desire to smoke.

For information on quitting smoking, please visit the quitting tobacco website managed by Augsburg’s Center for Wellness and Counseling.   Employees of Augsburg may also access resources through HealthPartners and the Augsburg Employee Assistance Program (EAP), managed by Human Resources.
