Financial Aid and Scholarships

Whether you are a full-time or part-time student in our Day Undergraduate program, an Augsburg education can be an affordable choice.

Augsburg offers several financing options for students in all programs including scholarships, grants, loans,  tuition discounts for those who qualify, and payment plans.

Early Advantage Scholarship

Incoming transfer students who have an application in to the Admissions Office by March 1st for Fall applicants, and December 1st for Spring applicants, and are admitted to Augsburg will receive an annual $500 Early Advantage Scholarship.

Transfer Regents’ Scholarship

The Transfer Regents’ Scholarship recognizes new day program transfer students of high academic achievement. The renewable awards range from $9,000 to $15,000 per year and are awarded to new transfer students who have a grade point average of 2.75 or above based on one year or more of completed college coursework.

Amount: $9,000 – $15,000 per year

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Recognizes academically qualified day program transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa, transferring into the day college program with one semester minimum membership in Phi Theta Kappa. Recommendation is required from the Phi Theta Kappa advisor/professor.

Amount: $2,500 award for current PTK students as verified through a transcript or PTK advisor.

Deadline: Application deadline is August 1 for fall enrollment or December 15 for spring enrollment.

Fine Arts Scholarships

The Fine Arts Scholarship recognizes incoming students (day only) who have excelled in visual art, forensics, film, music, or theater—including vocal and instrumental performance, acting, design, and production—and who plan to actively participate in the fine or performing arts at Augsburg. This renewable award of $3,000 per year is based on an on-campus audition or presentation. Applicants need not major in art, film, music, or theater, but are required to participate in a student organization and/or a performance group. Applicants may apply in more than one area of fine arts but may receive only one scholarship.

Amount: $3,000 per year

Deadline for Application: Submitted by February 1, 2013 for fall semester; November 2, 2012 for spring semester

Scholarship Weekend: February 22-23, 2013

The Directors Scholarship is awarded to one incoming first year student within each of the fine arts areas of visual arts, film, band, choir, orchestra, and theater. This prestigious fine arts award of $5,000 per year is based off of the Fine Arts Scholarship application and on-campus audition or presentation over Scholarship Weekend.

Augsburg Legacy Award

The Augsburg Legacy Award program is available to fulltime day students working toward their first bachelors degree, who are children or spouses of Augsburg graduates; siblings of current Augsburg students; or children or spouses of current ELCA pastors. No scholarship application is required. Legacy students are guaranteed a minimum award of $9,000. Legacy students who qualify for the Regents’ Scholarship or Transfer Regents’ Scholarship will receive a $1,000 Legacy Award added to their Regents’ Scholarship.

Amount: Minimum award of $9,000 per year

The Augsburg Corporation Scholarship

The Augsburg Corporation Scholarship recognizes all students who are members of an ELCA congregation within the Minneapolis Area Synod, the St. Paul Area Synod, the Southeast Minnesota Synod, or the Northwest Wisconsin Synod, which own Augsburg through the Augsburg Corporation. The scholarships of $1,000 per year are awarded at the point of admission. No application is necessary.

Amount: $1,000 per year

Augsburg PRIME Scholarship

How to Apply for Financial Aid at Augsburg

  1. Your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be sent to Augsburg College. Go to the FAFSA web site and choose “Add or Delete a School Code” under “FAFSA Follow-Up.” Augsburg’s code is 002334.
  2. After you receive a financial aid award letter from Augsburg, discuss it with a representative from the Student Financial Services Office  to determine the best financing plan for you.
