Financial Aid and Scholarships

Augsburg University recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding academic, leadership, service, and extracurricular achievements through Augsburg’s scholarship program.

Transfer Scholarships

The following scholarships are awarded at the point of admission based on information that is provided in the application. Notification of the scholarships are done through the acceptance letter. Recipients must be enrolled full time in the day program working towards their first bachelor’s degree.

Transfer Regents Scholarship

Awarded to new transfer students of high academic achievement with a grade point average of 2.75 or above based on one year or more of completed college coursework.

Amount: $14,500–$21,000 per year

Augsburg Legacy Scholarship

The Augsburg Legacy Scholarship recognizes students who are children or spouses of Augsburg graduates; siblings of current Augsburg students; or children or spouses of current Lutheran pastors. Legacy students will be awarded either a Transfer Regents Scholarship or a Legacy Scholarship (students are not eligible to receive both) upon admission to Augsburg University.

Amount: Minimum award of $14,500 per year

Augsburg College Access Program (ACAP) Scholarship

The ACAP Scholarship recognizes students who participate in a college readiness program such as College Possible, TRiO, or AVID. ACAP students will be awarded either a Transfer Regents Scholarship or an ACAP Scholarship (students are not eligible to receive both) upon admission to Augsburg University.

Amount: Minimum award of $14,500 per year

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship*

Recognizes academically qualified transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa and are transferring into the day undergraduate program with one semester minimum membership in Phi Theta Kappa.

Amount: $2,500 award for current PTK students as verified through a transcript or PTK advisor

The Two+Two Scholarship

This scholarship is open to all community college students and requires a minimum 2.0 GPA. Students complete up to 4 semesters at a community college and receive the Associates of Arts degree. Eligible students must also be PELL grant recipients, MN residents, and on track to finish their degree in 4 semesters. In combination with federal/state grants and student loans, tuition will be covered by Augsburg. Eligible students will have no out-of pocket costs for their tuition for two years.

Competitive Scholarships

These competitive scholarships require a separate application and interview process.

The Fine Arts Scholarship*

The Fine Arts Scholarship recognizes incoming students who have excelled in art, film, music, speech team, or theater—including vocal and instrumental performance, acting, design, and production—and who plan to actively participate in the fine or performing arts at Augsburg. Applicants need not major in art, film, music, or theater but are required to participate in a student organization and/or a performance group. Applicants may apply in more than one area of the fine arts but may receive only one scholarship.

Amount: $3,000 per year

The AugSTEM Scholar Award*

The AugSTEM Scholar Award is designated for current and new transfer students who are within five semesters of graduating. Applicants must be full-time students in a STEM major (biology, biopsychology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics or physics) with a 3.0 GPA within their major. This award is available for U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents who demonstrate financial need via FAFSA.

Amount: average award is $7,000

* This scholarship can be added to other scholarships.


How to Apply for Financial Aid at Augsburg

  1. Your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be sent to Augsburg University. Go to the FAFSA website and choose “Add or Delete a School Code” under “FAFSA Follow-Up.” Augsburg’s code is 002334.
  2. After you receive a financial aid award letter from Augsburg, discuss it with a representative from the Student Financial Services Office  to determine the best financing plan for you.
