Interested U.S. students may be able to join the Germans for local
cultural excursions in the U.S. at a small fee. This is not required.

Location: Germany
This program takes place in Karlsruhe, Germany, and
Minneapolis, USA. It takes advantage of a relationship with the Karlsruhe
Berufsakademie (a business university in Germany) to offer joint courses. In
Germany, German students will join US students for instruction and some program
activities. In Minneapolis the US students will join the Germans for instruction
and some program activities. In addition to lectures, students will participate
in case studies together. A weekend excursion to Munich and Dachau's
concentration camp is included.
Located in the Rhine Valley, Karlsruhe is situated in the
region that is world-renown for high tech industry and innovation. Students on
the program will take advantage of the region by visiting global firms in the
area and meeting with local business leaders. Students will also take part in
local cultural activities and learn about German culture and customs.
The European Union (EU) and the United States (US)
represent two powerful economic forces as well as significantly large markets.
Their relationship, history, and activity effect trade and economics globally.
BUS 362 views international business from a global
perspective of foreign governments, including the US government, focusing more
specifically on the relationships between the EU and US as well as their
business practices, policies, and strategies. Update: Only BUS 362 will be offered.

Steve Zitnick
Steven M. Zitnick is the Director of the Augsburg MBA Program as well as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business and has been associated with Augsburg College for nearly 10 years. Beginning as an Adjunct Professor in 1997, he has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in Strategic Management, Human Resources, Organization Development and International Business. Completing a 25 year career in human resources and organization development, he retired as a senior corporate human resources executive in 2004 after working for several fortune 500 companies. Zitnick brings an extensive background in global business, having worked internationally for many years. Zitnick joined the quickly growing Augsburg MBA program in 2005 as Associate Director, MBA Program and Assistant Professor. In May 2007, Zitnick assumed the role of Director, MBA Program. In his current role, his responsibilities include: overall program management, MBA Admissions, Assessment and Evaluation, curriculum management and development, faculty recruitment and student career planning. In addition, Zitnick teaches Organization Development and Business Ethics in the program. Zitnick has a BA in Psychology from Shimer College, and a Master’s of Science in Human Resources and Economics from the University of Utah. Zitnick has extensive additional graduate study from a joint program in Organization Development at the Naval Post–Graduate School and Pepperdine University. Zitnick resides with his wife in Stillwater Minnesota and has been active on University, community and church boards.
Dr. Lori A. Peterson
Lori has over 17 years experience in U.S. and international organization management and leadership, organization structural analysis, development and implementation of growth initiatives, human resource management and development, quality, and customer service. She has served a wide variety of for–profit, not–for–profit, and public organizations such as West Group/Thomson Corporation, IBM, the Valspar Corporation, Dayton–Hudson/Target Corporation, 3M, the Metropolitan Council, and others. Lori often speaks to corporations, public and non–profit agencies about effective leadership practices and the importance of creating meaningful and diverse, yet efficient and profitable work environments. Lori holds multiple degrees from the University of Minnesota: a PhD in organization development, with a specialization in international human resource development; a master’s degree in training & development and adult education; a professional certificate in human resource development; and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing.
