What is transfer SOAR?
Transfer SOAR is a required day-long orientation experience for all incoming transfer students starting at Augsburg College in Fall 2017 designed to help with the transition to Augsburg. Students will learn about college resources and services; have a chance to ask questions; meet fellow students, faculty, and staff; and discover why being a part of the Augsburg community is so rewarding.
Are students required to attend transfer SOAR?
Transfer SOAR is required for all incoming transfer students starting at Augsburg College in Fall 2017.
Should students still attend transfer SOAR if they have already attended an orientation program at a previous institution?
Transfer SOAR is required for all incoming transfer students starting at Augsburg College in Fall 2017 regardless of attendance at an orientation program at a previous institution. Transfer SOAR is a succinct orientation program that will offer students the “nuts and bolts” of Augsburg College, but will not focus on broad transition issues that would be covered in previous orientation programs. Transfer SOAR will also address concerns and answer questions students may have specifically about transitioning to Augsburg College.
Should students still attend transfer SOAR if they will be commuting to campus?
Transfer SOAR is designed for all incoming transfer students, regardless of their resident or commuter status.
What do students need to do prior to attending transfer SOAR?
All transfer students will register for fall classes with the Office of Academic Advising prior to attending Transfer SOAR. what should students bring to transfer soar?
- Comfortable walking shoes*
- Weather-appropriate clothing
*During Transfer SOAR students will be exploring different communities, businesses, organizations, and campus partners surrounding the Augsburg College campus and will be traveling varying distances by walking.
Can parents attend transfer SOAR?
Transfer SOAR is specifically designed for transfer students and so parents are welcome to stay and explore the Augsburg campus and surrounding community or leave while their student participates in the Transfer SOAR program.
Can siblings attend transfer SOAR?
Unfortunately there is no programming available for siblings during Transfer SOAR.
When and where is check-in for transfer SOAR?
Transfer SOAR check-in will take place between 8:45-9:30 a.m. in the Oren Gateway Center Lobby.
when does transfer Soar start and end?
Check-in for Transfer SOAR starts at 8:45 a.m. and the program will conclude no later than 4:00 p.m.
Where can students park during transfer SOAR?
Students may park free of charge in Augsburg College Parking Lot L during the hours of Transfer SOAR. A map of campus showing Parking Lot L can be found at augsburg.edu/about/map.
When do students who will be living on campus for fall 2017 move into their residence hall?
Students will receive information on their specific move-in date and time from the Department of Residence Life. For additional move-in questions, or if you wish to learn more about how to live on campus, please contact Residence Life at firstname.lastname@example.org or 612-330-1526.
Any student with a disability-related concern in regards to Transfer SOAR should contact the CLASS/Disability Resources Office at email@example.com or 612-330-1053. Contacting CLASS two or more weeks prior to Transfer SOAR will help ensure that all necessary arrangements will be available.
