What is SPRING SOAR?

Spring SOAR is a required half-day orientation experience for all incoming first-year and transfer students starting at Augsburg University in Spring 2018 designed to help with the transition to Augsburg. Students will learn about university resources and services; have a chance to ask questions; meet fellow students, faculty, and staff; and discover why being a part of the Augsburg community is so rewarding.

Are students required to attend SPRING SOAR?

Spring SOAR is required for all incoming first-year and transfer students starting at Augsburg University in Spring 2018.

Should students still attend SPRING SOAR if they have already attended an orientation program at a previous institution?

Spring SOAR is required for all incoming first-year and transfer students starting at Augsburg University in Spring 2018 regardless of attendance at an orientation program at a previous institution. Spring SOAR is a succinct orientation program that will offer students the “nuts and bolts” of Augsburg University, but will not focus on broad transition issues that would be covered in previous orientation programs. Spring SOAR will also address concerns and answer questions students may have specifically about transitioning to Augsburg University.

Should students still attend spring SOAR if they will be commuting to campus?

Spring SOAR is designed for all incoming first-year and transfer students, regardless of their resident or commuter status.

What do students need to do prior to attending spring SOAR?

All incoming first-year and transfer students will register for their spring classes with the Office of Academic Advising prior to attending Spring SOAR. Can parents attend spring SOAR?

Spring SOAR is specifically designed for incoming first-year and transfer students and so parents are welcome to stay and explore the Augsburg campus and surrounding community or leave while their student participates in the Spring SOAR program.

Can siblings attend spring SOAR?

Unfortunately there is no programming available for siblings during Spring SOAR.

When and where is check-in for spring SOAR?

Spring SOAR check-in will take place between 7:30-8:00 a.m. in the Oren Gateway Center Lobby.

when does spring Soar start and end?

Check-in for Spring SOAR starts at 7:30 a.m. and the program will conclude no later than 12:00 p.m.

Where can students park during spring SOAR?

Students may park free of charge in Augsburg University Parking Lot L during the hours of Spring SOAR. A map of campus showing Parking Lot L can be found at augsburg.edu/about/map.

When do students who will be living on campus for spring 2018 move into their residence hall?

Students will receive information on their specific move-in date and time from the Department of Residence Life. For additional move-in questions, or if you wish to learn more about how to live on campus, please contact Residence Life at reslife@augsburg.edu or 612-330-1526.
