What is SPRING SOAR?
Spring SOAR is a required half-day orientation experience for all incoming first-year and transfer students starting at Augsburg College in spring 2017. Spring SOAR is designed to help with the transition to Augsburg. Students will learn about college resources and services; have a chance to ask questions; meet fellow students, faculty, and staff; and discover why being a part of the Augsburg community is so rewarding.
Are students required to attend SPRING SOAR?
Spring SOAR is required for all incoming first-year and transfer students starting at Augsburg College in spring 2017.
Should students still attend SPRING SOAR if they have already attended an orientation program at a previous institution?
Spring SOAR is required for all incoming first-year and transfer students starting at Augsburg College in spring 2017 regardless of attendance at an orientation program at a previous institution. Spring SOAR is a succinct orientation program that will offer students the “nuts and bolts” of Augsburg College, but will not focus on broad transition issues that would be covered in previous orientation programs. Spring SOAR will also address concerns and answer questions students may have about transitioning to Augsburg College.
Should students still attend SPRING SOAR if they will be commuting to campus?
Spring SOAR is designed for all incoming first-year and transfer students, regardless of their resident or commuter status.
What do students need to do prior to attending SPRING SOAR?
Students should contact Academic Advising at firstname.lastname@example.org or 612-330-1025 to make sure they have completed all necessary steps to start classes for the 2017 Spring Semester prior to attending Spring SOAR. For more information, please visit augsburg.edu/advising.
Can parents attend SPRING SOAR?
Spring SOAR is specifically designed for first-year and transfer students and so parents are welcome to stay and explore the Augsburg campus and surrounding community or leave while their student participates in the Spring SOAR program.
Can siblings attend SPRING SOAR?
Unfortunately there is no programming available for siblings during Spring SOAR.
When and where is check-in for SPRING SOAR?
Spring SOAR check-in will take place in the Oren Gateway Center Lobby from 7:30 – 8:00 a.m. and the program will conclude by 12:00 p.m.
Where can students park during SPRING SOAR?
Students may park free of charge in Augsburg College Parking Lot L during the hours of Spring SOAR. A map of campus showing Parking Lot L can be found at augsburg.edu/about/map.
When do students who will be living on campus for SPRING 2017 move into their residence hall?
Students will receive information on their specific move-in date and time from Residence Life. For additional questions, or if you wish to learn more about how to live on campus, please contact Residence Life at email@example.com or 612-330-1488.
Any student with a disability-related concern in regards to Spring SOAR should contact the CLASS/Disability Resources Office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 612-330-1053. Contacting CLASS two or more weeks prior to Spring SOAR will help ensure that all necessary arrangements will be available.
