What is Spring SOAR?

Spring SOAR is a required orientation experience for all incoming first-year and transfer students starting at Augsburg in spring 2015 designed to help with the transition to Augsburg College. Students will learn about college resources and services; have a chance to ask questions; meet fellow students; and discover why being a part of the Augsburg community is so rewarding.

Is Spring SOAR required?

Yes, Spring SOAR is required for all first-year and transfer students who are starting at Augsburg in spring 2015.

When and where is check-in for Spring SOAR?

Spring SOAR check-in and other pre-orientation activities will take place in the Oren Gateway Center Lobby from 7:30 – 8:00 a.m., and the program will conclude by 12:00 p.m.

What should students do if they have attended an orientation program at a previous institution?

Many colleges and universities have great orientation programs that help students become familiar with their specific institution. However, each institution is different. Spring SOAR is a succinct orientation program that will offer incoming first-year and transfer students the “nuts and bolts” of Augsburg College, but will not focus on broad transition issues that would be covered in previous orientation programs. Spring SOAR will address concerns and answer questions students may have about transitioning to Augsburg College.

Should students commuting to campus attend Spring SOAR?

Yes, Spring SOAR is designed for all new first-year and transfer students, regardless of their resident or commuter status.

When do students who will be living on campus for spring 2015 move into their residence hall?

Students will receive information on their specific move-in date and time from Residence Life. For additional questions, or if you wish to learn more about how to live on campus, please contact Housing Specialist Cyndy Rowe at or 612-330-1488.

Can parents and guardians attend Spring SOAR?
