What is Transfer SOAR?

Transfer SOAR is a required orientation experience for incoming transfer students designed to help with the transition to Augsburg College. Students will learn about college resources and services, hear about academic programs, and discover why being a part of the Augsburg community is so rewarding.

Is Transfer SOAR required?

Yes. Transfer SOAR is required for all transfer students who are starting at Augsburg in fall 2013.

When and where is check-in for Transfer SOAR?

Transfer SOAR check-in and other pre-orientation activities will take place in the Christensen Center Lobby from 8:30-9:30 a.m., and the program will conclude by 6:00 p.m.

What should transfer students do if they have attended an orientation program at their previous institution?

Many colleges and universities have amazing orientation programs that help you become familiar with their specific institution. However, each institution is different. Transfer SOAR is a succinct orientation program that will offer incoming transfer students the “nuts and bolts” of Augsburg College, but will not focus on broad transition issues that they have covered in previous orientation programs. Transfer SOAR does, however, give incoming transfer students a good breadth of information to help address concerns and answer questions students may have about transitioning to Augsburg College.

Should transfer students commuting to campus attend Transfer SOAR?

Yes. Transfer SOAR is designed for all transfer students, regardless of their resident or commuter status.

When do transfer students who will be living on campus in the fall move into their residence hall?

Transfer students will receive information on their specific move-in date and time from Residence Life. For additional questions, or if you wish to learn more about how to live on campus, please contact Housing Specialist Cyndy Rowe at rowe@augsburg.edu or 612-330-1488.

Can parents and guardians attend Transfer SOAR?

No. Transfer SOAR is specifically designed for transfer students. However, parents and guardians are welcome to stay and explore the Augsburg campus and surrounding community or leave while their students participate in the Transfer SOAR program.

Where is parking available during Transfer SOAR?

Parking is available in any designated Augsburg College parking lot free of charge during the hours of Transfer SOAR.  A map of parking lots on campus can be found here.
