NASA Space Grant

What We Do

Since 1991, NASA Space Grant funding has enabled Augsburg College in Minneapolis to support a rich array of public education programs focusing on space science research and exploration. The goal of the Augsburg College NASA Space Grant Program is to promote educational outreach, teaching and research in engineering, mathematics and science fields that support NASA's Strategic Enterprises.

  • The Sverdrup Visiting Scientist Lecture Program, features a nationally known scientist who presents to Augsburg students, faculty, staff and the general public.
  • The Eye to the Future Career Conference for Young Women in Math and Science highlights math and science career opportunities for young women (ages 10-14).
  • CO2 Cars--A Day at the Races is a state-wide competition for middle school students to race their Galsa carbon dioxide cars.
  • GEMS - Girls in Engineering, Mathematics, Sciences, is a year-round SMT enrichment program for girls in grades 4-8.
  • NASA Explorer School - Anwatin Middle School and Bryn Mawr Elementary School worked with the Augsburg Space Grant Program to receive a NASA Explorer School grant.
