I was born in Kampala, Uganda, the same place my parents met after leaving their country Somalia because of the war at the time. My family moved to the United States when I was just two years old. We lived in Arlington, Virginia for about five years and then moved to Minnesota because majority of my mother’s family lived here. I grew up attending charter schools. For elementary and middle school I attended Cedar Riverside Community School and then attended a public charter high school, Augsburg Fairview Academy. Augsburg College and Fairview Hospital co-sponsored my high school, and for that very reason, Augsburg College became my number one college pick. I am currently enrolled at Augsburg’s day program as a first year. My major is undecided–I want to take this college experience and search for what I’m interested in learning and make career goals that fit my interests. I like being involved in different organizations on campus, especially the Pan African Student Union and the Muslim Student Association. It’s a rewarding work study job. Overall I’m an Auggie who strives to learn and work hard!
My name is Mckenna Brunzell and I am one of two student workers in the Women’s Resource Center. I am a sophomore here at Augsburg College and I am majoring in International Relations. I was born and raised here in Minneapolis, Minnesota but have plans on moving all around the globe after I graduate. My passions in life are traveling, dancing, and cooking, and my goal is to incorporate these passions of mine in my future career.
