What is Auggie Days?
Auggie Days is the second part of the required orientation experience for all incoming first-year students who will be starting at Augsburg University in Fall 2018. Auggie Days serves as Augsburg’s Welcome Week and is designed to complement SOAR, provide opportunities to enhance academic and personal success, and offers students a helpful advantage in starting their collegiate career off right.
Are students required to attend Auggie Days?
The first five days of Auggie Days (Aug 31-Sept 4) are required for all incoming first-year students who will be starting at Augsburg University in Fall 2018. Students are then encouraged to attend the programming for the remaining three days of Auggie Days (Sept 5-7) around their scheduled fall semester classes.
Transfer students are not required to attend Auggie Days but are welcome to attend specific programming that may be beneficial to their transition to Augsburg University. How do students register for Auggie Days?
Students are automatically registered for Auggie Days once they register for their SOAR session.
Can parents attend Auggie Days?
Auggie Days is specifically designed for incoming first-year students, however parents are invited to enjoy the Alumni Relations Parent and Family Hospitality Reception on Friday, August 31 at 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Hagfors Center before heading to the Quad and rejoining their student at the Welcome Dinner at 4:30-5:30 p.m. After the Welcome Dinner, parents are welcome to stay and explore the Augsburg campus and surrounding community or leave while students begin their participation in Auggie Days.
Can siblings attend Auggie Days?
Unfortunately there is no programming available for siblings during Auggie Days.
When and where is check-in for Auggie Days?
Resident Students: For students who will be living on campus in Fall 2018, check-in for Auggie Days and residence hall move-in will be at the same time. Check-in will take place on Friday, August 31 between 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Students will receive information on their specific move-in time from the Department of Residence Life. Commuter Students: Students who are commuting to campus in Fall 2018 should arrive by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 31 and meet in the Quad for the official start of Auggie Days.
Where can students park during Auggie Days?
From August 31-September 4, students can park free of charge in Augsburg University Parking Lot L during the hours of Auggie Days. After the start of classes on Wednesday, September 5, parking is available in Augsburg University Parking Lots by permit only; however, city street parking is available. A map of campus showing Parking Lot L can be found at augsburg.edu/about/map.
When do students living on campus in the fall move into their residence hall?
As stated above, students will be moving into their residence halls on Friday, August 31 between 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Students will receive information on their specific move-in time from the Department of Residence Life. For additional move-in or housing questions, please contact Residence Life at firstname.lastname@example.org or 612-330-1526.
International students may be required to move in on a different date and/or at a different time.
During Auggie Days students will spend one afternoon (approximately 4 hours) participating in community service projects around the Twin Cities area. The different projects may involve walking a number of blocks and/or taking public transportation. They may also involve students working with their hands. Any students with a disability-related concern about participating in a community service project or who need to request accommodations for any other part of Auggie Days should contact the CLASS/Disability Services Office at email@example.com or 612-330-1053. Contacting CLASS two or more weeks prior to Auggie Days will help ensure that all necessary arrangements will be available.
