Augsburg Gets Its Chapter of Phi Alpha in 2008

In the spring term of 2008 there was an official ceremony inducting the Omicron Delta chapter of the national social work honor society, Phi Alpha to the Social Work Department of Augsburg College.

The Purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work. Its motto is: 

"Through Knowledge - the challenge to serve."

Augsburg joins the College of St. Catherine, the University of St. Thomas and Concordia University/St. Paul in Twin Cities membership.

Mary Murzyn, BSW '08 (now in the MSW Program) was the driving force behind
bringing the chapter to Augsburg. Cheers to her, the chapter officers and faculty member Dr. Christina Erickson. The President for 2008-2009 is Emily Tischer.
