Social Work

OUR MISSION

In striving for excellence, we aim to prepare social work professionals for generalist practice that promotes intersectional racial and social justice towards the well-being of people in a diverse and global society.

The BSW program at Augsburg is the oldest committed to social justice in Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. You will study social work with committed classmates, intern at top human service agencies, and be guided in your studies from some of the best social work faculty in Minnesota. The BSW degree is both an academic and professional degree. Interdisciplinary opportunities are accessible and rewarding. As a social work student you will be encouraged to be active and challenged to be excellent. The relationships you make with classmates and faculty will last a lifetime.

Our students can take advantage of the many study abroad opportunities offered by the Center for Global Education and Experience (CGEE). Our faculty often lead short-term courses to a wide variety of countries.

ACCREDITATION

The Augsburg University BSW program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education’s Board of Accreditation.

Accreditation of a baccalaureate or master’s social work program by the Council on Social Work Education’s Board of Accreditation indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of program quality evaluated through a peer review process. An accredited program has sufficient resources to meet its mission and goals and the Board of Accreditation has verified that it demonstrates compliance with all sections of the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.

Accreditation applies to all program sites and program delivery methods of an accredited program. Accreditation provides reasonable assurance about the quality of the program and the competence of students graduating from the program.
