Kevin Schwandt, PhD, is a musicologist focused on expressions of identity in contemporary society. He has taught courses on music and gender, sexuality, and race, as well as feminist and queer theory at McNally Smith College of Music, the University of Minnesota, and Macalester College. He also teaches writing and literature at Hamline University. Dr. Schwandt’s approach to teaching emphasizes mutual respect and developing classroom cultures in which everyone can be heard and everyone’s ideas are treated as the valuable contributions they are. Kevin is also a composer, writer, editor, and writing coach. He has published on queer punk, disability in music, and reparative historiography.
