Medieval history professor Phil Adamo reads a passage from the monastic Rule of Benedict before students head off for the day’s pilgrimage along the medieval Chemin de Saint Jacques in southern France.

Augsburg University medievalists have hiked medieval pilgrim paths in France, lived with monks in a medieval monastery in Scotland, and discussed medieval Islam in the courtyard of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Augsburg professors regularly offer short-term, study abroad courses with medieval themes.

Our majors have also studied abroad for single and multiple semesters in Ireland, Wales, France, and Italy. We regularly send students to the prestigious Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Oxford University in England.
