Melissa Hensley Melissa Hensley finished her PhD in August at Washington University in St. Louis. She is eager to work with students in both the BSW and MSW programs, and she especially loves to teach practice skills to foundation-level students. This fall, she will be teaching Social Work Practice with Individuals, as well as Foundation Field Seminar and Skills Lab. Melissa has an MSW from Washington University and an MHA from University of Missouri, and she is licensed as a clinical social worker in the State of Missouri.

Melissa is especially interested in issues related to delivery of community mental health care and the use of recovery and rehabilitation models with adults who have serious mental illness. Her most recent research involves investigation of the impact of Medicare prescription drug coverage on adults with mental illness and their case managers. In her free time, Melissa likes to make home-cooked meals, attend church at Spirit of the Lakes/Minnehaha United Church of Christ, and snuggle with her geriatric cat, PJ. She is also enjoying the process of getting to know her way around the Twin Cities, especially the Seward and Cedar/Riverside neighborhoods.
