Join us to grow in your ability to create awareness around issues of equity and racial justice in healthcare, recognize the scope of work of racial justice including power, privilege and white supremacy culture, and develop skills to become a change agent in delivering culturally relevant and just healthcare and social services.

Description

COVID-19 has illuminated health inequities and the impact that structural racism has on health. In this course you will examine health inequities and social determinants of health in communities and systems. You will employ a critical lens and become equipped to take action in your own healthcare practice and life. The work you will do in this course will impact your practice, patients, and clients.

In this hybrid course, you will engage in asynchronous activities that include reading articles, watching videos, engaging in self-directed health equity activities, and reflective writing. Each week you will participate in an online synchronous session on Zoom led by an Augsburg university faculty and doctoral student. The synchronous sessions will include content delivery as well as small and large group discussions. We ask that you plan to be present, visible and active in these sessions in order to contribute to the learning community and to get the most out of the experience. Your perspective, experiences and voice matter.
