Dr. Stephanie Chambers-Baltz (she/her) received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. She has worked in a variety of urban and rural settings including community mental health clinics, a college counseling center, SIU’s school of aviation, a post-hospital rehabilitation center for acquired brain injuries, and her private practice. She specializes in working with adults who are navigating work-life balance, relationship difficulties, and symptoms of anxiety and depression. As a scientist practitioner educator, her research, clinical work, and teaching inform and shape each other.

Research Interests

Content areas: 1. integrating research into psychotherapeutic settings, 2. psychotherapist identity, multicultural orientation, and development, 3. mental health and identity-based experiences (gender, race, sexuality) in aviation

Research methodology: Varied, though predominantly qualitative (consensual qualitative research, grounded theory, thematic analysis), participatory action research
