In the beginning, that calling was to educate lay people, alongside clergy for the church. Today, we are recognized as a place others aspire to become: the most diverse Lutheran institution in America.
Today, we are called to root our essential values even more deeply and build a vibrant future—a thriving university that belongs to all.
Promising Futures
This campaign aims to raise $25,000,000 to secure our innovative academic programming, build on our vibrant reputation, and secure our financial future.
Academic Innovation
Auggies are the resilient, capable, and engaged leaders our world needs. US News & World Report ranked Augsburg #3 among Midwest regional universities for social mobility of its graduates and ranks #5 regionally in grant support from the National Science Foundation. Augsburg is on the forefront of higher education because of our students and our core values: education in service to the world.
Augsburg’s long-standing commitment to meeting students where they are is a core distinction. We acted from this commitment when veterans returned from World War II and eagerly pursued degrees, when we created the StepUP
program to support students in recovery from substance, the Weekend College for working adults, the Gage Center for Student Success, and the Frank Groves Center for Learning and Accessible Student Services (CLASS). We act from this commitment now as we serve first-generation college students, sustain mentoring opportunities like the Sankofa Circle Fellowship and launch the new Augsburg Family Scholars serving students in the foster care system.

Building on a vibrant reputation
Augsburg’s most distinctive programs have been born out of our abiding belief that everyone has a vocation. We embrace all students by a caring community through faith formation, mentoring, and thoughtful instruction.
These core programs propel Augsburg toward national significance.
- Campus Ministry brings together students, faculty, staff, and neighbors to focus on faith development and service to the world.
- Augsburg’s Interfaith Institute and its commitment to interreligious partnerships encourages bridge building in a polarized world through authentic relationships and learning.
- The Christensen Center for Vocation equips the campus and our church partners to discover together how we are called to serve through our Christian faith.
- The Sabo Center for Democracy and Citizenship puts passion into practice through skill-building and pragmatic preparation for a life of active civic engagement.

Securing the Future
Augsburg has always led with innovation, creativity, and courage. From its earliest founding, the people of Augsburg acted from the “necessity of resourcefulness,” grounded in a pragmatic approach. Numerous external pressures now require bold moves, and we are claiming three main paths to financial stability.
Unrestricted annual support provides financial aid for students and strategic investments. A strong Augsburg Fund frees up discretionary dollars and allows the university to respond to new opportunities. In this campaign, 5% of every restricted gift will be routed to the Augsburg Fund to strategically solidify our future.
