Mission
The Department of Student Initiatives strives to be a national leader in fostering a community of belonging, providing support for student success, and fostering a rich education that includes multicultural learning opportunities. Through collaboration with key departments, offices, and individuals; the development and implementation of multicultural learning opportunities; and the focused mentoring and support of Augsburg’s students, the department works to co-create a university environment that allows for all students to fully engage in the entirety of their collegiate experience.

The Department of Student Initiatives is located in the basement of the Christensen Center building in Suite 2. In 2014, we named the space Oyaté Commons in recognition of the first inhabitants of this land, the Dakota people. Oyaté is the Dakota word that translates in American English to “the people” or “the nation.”
