Description
Through a collaboration between the Interfaith Institute at Augsburg University and faculty from our schools of nursing we are responding to health crises that are impacting our neighborhood. As that work has grown, we’ve identified a need for healthcare professionals who can provide care that is culturally specific.
This course was born from what we’ve learned serving diverse communities in our area. It’s clear that knowledge of religious diversity and accompanying skill sets that integrate the religious/spiritual/worldview of patients as a key component of care is vital to improving the overall health and well-being of our community. We believe this is not only true for our neighboring communities, but true for culturally and religiously diverse contexts across the United States.
It offers an introduction to interfaith knowledge and skills that promote the health and well-being of patients and communities. In this course, theories foundational to nursing are interwoven with interfaith concepts and skills. Interfaith and intercultural scenarios are provided throughout the course for practice and reflection. Downloadable resources are also available for future reference.
