Admissions Process

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or an appropriately certified foreign institution and clinically practicing as a PA for a minimum of 5 years
    • Undergraduate degree grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0)

–OR–

  • Master’s degree from an ARC-PA accredited institution with an MSPAS, MPAS or equivalent PA degrees
    • Graduate degree grade point average of 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0)

Admission as an International Student

International applicants must submit the required application materials listed above. Refer to the additional requirements outlined in Admission of International Students in the Graduate Admissions section.

On rare occasions, an applicant with a grade point average lower than the stated admission requirements may be considered for admission if the applicant provides documented evidence of interest, ability, and aptitude for doctoral study. All admission exceptions must be documented, recommended by the program admissions committee, and approved by the Program Director.

Applications Must Include

An admissions representative is available to help interested applicants complete the following required documentation:

  • Completed Application for Admission Online at https://admissions.augsburg.edu/apply/
  • Submit a professional goal statement in scholarly form
  • Current Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • *Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary schools attended; Official transcripts will be needed before matriculation

*Transcripts

Applicants must submit an official transcript(s) from the regionally accredited institution granting the Bachelor’s degree and from the most recently attended institution, if not the same. Military veterans are required to submit all official transcripts from previously attended institutions to qualify for military benefits.

In the case where prerequisite requirements exist or transfer credits or waivers are sought, official transcripts are required from institutions at which the prerequisites or equivalents were completed. The Program Director may ask for additional transcripts if determined to be necessary.

PLEASE NOTE: Students must request official transcripts through a verified transcript service. The most commonly used are National Clearinghouse or Parchment. Check the degree-granting institutions’ website for the appropriate service to request. Any copies (including marked official) uploaded to the application are considered UNOFFICIAL and will not be accepted.
