The degree programs at Augsburg University that are intended to result in professional licensure and certification are designed to meet the educational requirements for the state of Minnesota.
Per the U.S. Department of Education regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v), we are obligated to disclose whether or not Augsburg’s programs will meet the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in any of the U.S. states or territories. To the best of our knowledge, the following information accurately reflects the requirements applicable for each of our licensing programs.
We encourage students who may live out-of-state or intend to test or apply for licensure or certification outside of Minnesota to: (1) share this with college representatives and program officials, and (2) review the state educational requirements on the relevant licensing body’s website. Augsburg University will work collaboratively to ensure that all students stay apprised and informed regarding educational requirements for licensing eligibility wherever they may live.

Social Work
The Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
The Bachelors of Social Work course of study is intended to meet the educational requirements to become a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Minnesota. Per the U.S. Department of Education Regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v), we have determined that our curriculum meets educational requirements for professional licensure in Minnesota. The BSW meets educational requirements in all 50 states. Some states require post-degree supervised professional hours to be eligible for licensure. For more information see here.

Clinical Psychology
The Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) program at Augsburg University trains students to function effectively as health service psychologists. There are currently two PsyD programs housed in the department. The Augsburg University/Argosy Teachout PsyD program is ‘accredited, inactive’ by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association (APA). The PsyD program for non-teachout, non-Argosy University students is APA-accredited, on contingency, through December 8, 2026.
Minnesota: Both Augsburg’s APA-accredited, inactive teachout PsyD program and the APA-accredited on contingency PsyD program for new students meet educational requirements for psychologist licensure in Minnesota as established by the MN Board of Psychology. Requirements beyond degree completion must also be met, including but not limited to: passage of the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP), one year of supervised post-doctoral practice, and passage of the Minnesota Professional Responsibility Exam.
