Italian Language and Culture – Maria Borsa

Maria Gloria Borsa teaches AP Italian Language and Culture and AP Spanish Literature and Culture at Bellaire High School for the Houston Independent School District.

She graduated in Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Sassari, her hometown in Italy, and has two Master of Arts, one in Bilingual Translation from the University of Westminster in London, UK, and the second in Theories and Methodologies for the Teaching of Italian to Foreigners from the Scuola IaD of the University of Tor Vergata in Rome, Italy.

Since 2014 she is an AP Reader for Italian and since 2016 she is part of the AP Reading Leadership as a Table Reader, which gave her the opportunity to deepen her knowledge of each part of the FRQ section of the exam.
In 2018 she was invited to become an AP Consultant and, in that role, she has been able to collaborate to the creation of AP Classroom. In 2020 she oversaw and taught in the videos the College Board streamed live daily to help AP students prepare for the exam during the pandemic.

After that she became the AP Daily Lead Instructor for Italian, coordinating the team of teachers and professors who contributed their expertise in the AP Daily videos. This led her to become the AP Italian Lead Consultant and to record the AP Live Review videos for AP Classroom.

A strong believer in the value of diversity end equity, she considers herself a teaching practitioner and she constantly searches for new ways to reach her students and offer them new opportunities.

Maria Borsa is teaching one workshop at Augsburg this summer. See our registration site with the button below.
