Off-Campus Opportunities

Spend 100 Days on the Mississippi River!

River Semester Students
River Semester Students

Augsburg offers the unique opportunity to spend a semester away on the Mississippi River.  Each Fall term, students can take a full semester of courses while traveling the length of the Mississippi River, including stops in St. Louis, Memphis, and New Orleans.  Study environmental and river politics, stream ecology, outdoor leadership, and design your own research project, while meeting with local experts and interesting local characters all along the way.

HECUA

The Environmental Studies department at Augsburg recommends off-campus study programs offered by the Higher Education Consortium on Urban Affairs (HECUA), both in the Twin Cities and in New Zealand.  These programs focus on environmental justice and are a great fit with Augsburg’s Environmental Studies program.  All courses count toward the ENV major.

Urban Environmental Sustainability: Ecology, Policy, and Social Transformation (USA, Fall term only)

New Zealand Culture and the Environment: A Shared Future  (New Zealand, Fall and Spring terms)
