About
The Health Commons East represents a community-academic partnership with Augsburg University, M Health Fairview, the East Side Health & Well-Being Collaborative, and the Sanneh Foundation. We are officially opening our doors on August 16th with a ribbon cutting ceremony but have had a presence in the community since earlier April 2023. Nurses, physician assistants, staff, and students provide basic cares to community members in this drop-in center that is focused on meeting people where they are to respond to any expressed felt need of those who visit, especially as it pertains to health. We are dedicated to building relationships based on mutual benefit and understanding with those who utilize our space. Volunteers often spend time visiting with members of the community, distributing donations, and setting up the space. Faculty, students, and volunteers also provide basic care such as blood pressure checks or basic foot care. The hope is that the moments here can allow guests to address their health needs as they deem necessary, and the work can lead to addressing barriers to health and foster healing.

Attire: Please dress casually when visiting this Health Commons. Jeans and tennis shoes are appropriate. No scrubs or white coats. And, we will have stethoscopes available for you if needed.
TIME CHANGE 2026: Starting January 21, 2026 students and faculty will arrive at 09:30 for orientation, staff the Health Commons from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and then have debriefing from 12:00 – 12:30 p.m. ( 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. each week).
