Financial Aid & Scholarships

Paying for Your Education

For those who qualify, there are financial aid resources available to assist students with meeting the cost of college, including loans, scholarships, and grants. The Student Financial Services department works individually with students to help them understand financial options and payment plans. No matter what stage a student is in, we are here to help.


Tuition Grants

Augsburg Partnership Grant

Individuals who are employed by corporations/institutions that are participating in the Augsburg Partnership Grant program and are enrolled in any graduate program,  are eligible for a tuition discount in the form of a grant. This discount may also apply to students who have successfully completed a Leadership Course from participating Chambers of Commerce. The grant for graduate programs is currently $80.00/credit. Grants and/or discounts are not stackable.

Augsburg University also partners with the Transcultural Nursing Society to offer the Partnership Grant to all members.  At the time of application, students select Partnership Grant and indicate their involvement.

Alumni Discount

Students who received their bachelor’s degree from Augsburg University and return to Augsburg as either an Adult Undergraduate or Graduate student are eligible to receive a grant. Please make sure your admissions counselor is aware that you are an Augsburg graduate. The grant amount for the academic year for graduate programs is $80.00/credit. Americorps/Lutheran Volunteer Corps Discount

Augsburg offers a tuition grant for students who have served with AmeriCorps. The grant amount for the academic year for graduate programs is $80.00/credit. Grants and/or discounts are not stackable.

Military Tuition Grant

Individuals who are serving or have served qualify for discounted tuition. The grant amount for the academic year for graduate programs is $80.00/credit. Grants and/or discounts are not stackable.

Legacy Grant

Individuals who have had parents, grandparents, siblings, or a spouse who received their degree from Augsburg University qualify for discounted tuition. The grant amount for the academic year for graduate programs is $80.00/credit. Grants and/or discounts are not stackable.


Scholarships

Nursing Department Scholarships

The Department of Nursing offers departmental scholarships ranging in amount from $300 to $3,500. These scholarships are available for students. We also recommend students consider applying for nursing scholarships offered by their employer, outside organizations, and other nursing-related associations.

Inclusion Excellence Scholarship

Aimed to reduce financial barriers to graduate education for BIPOC identifying students, historically under-represented students, first generation college students, and/or those with the greatest financial need.

Amount: $5000.

Open Date:  The scholarship application will be available via your application portal on May 1, 2024.

Deadline to apply: June 1st (Priority Deadline), June 30th (Final Deadline)

Eligibility: Meet one or more of the following criteria AND apply/admitted to start your program in Summer or Fall Semester of the upcoming academic year.
  • Racialized lived experience as someone who identifies with backgrounds historically excluded from and underrepresented in college education and career paths.
  • First generation college graduate (neither parent/guardian having completed a baccalaureate degree).
  • Other lived experiences historically underrepresented and/or marginalized within graduate education including but not limited to the following:
    • Holding DACA, TPS, refugee, or asylee status
    • Having a gender and/or sexual orientation identity historically underrepresented in the applicant’s profession
    • Individuals with a disability

*Employees/employee dependents of Augsburg are excluded from eligibility.

Outside Scholarships

  • Minnesota Nursing Association – offers scholarships to nurses who are members
  • Employer Tuition Assistance/Reimbursement Check with your employer to determine eligibility and offerings. 

LOAN FORGIVENESS

Under certain circumstances, the federal government will cancel all or part of an educational loan to various healthcare professionals serving in high-need areas. Go to the Department of Health website for more information about loan forgiveness programs.

Federal Student Aid

Financial assistance including federal loans is available to degree-seeking students enrolled full-time in the program. Students considering borrowing loans should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
