Augsburg Residence Life partners with Augsburg Dining Services to provide meal plan options and support for Augsburg students with Housing Contracts. For questions related to meal plans for commuter students, please contact Augsburg Dining Services.

Residential Meal Plan Requirements

  • All first-year students (first year at Augsburg, not classified as transfer students) with Housing Contracts are required to purchase the 15-Plus meal plan.
  • All students with Housing Contracts assigned to Urness Hall, Anderson Hall, and Mortensen Hall, regardless of academic classification, are required to purchase a meal plan.
  • All students affiliated with the StepUP® program who have Housing Contracts for Oren Gateway Center are required to purchase a meal plan for the first two semesters of their enrollment at Augsburg University (not including summer enrollment).
  • If you are required to purchase a meal plan due to the aforementioned classifications, but do not select a meal plan, a 15-Plus meal plan will be applied to your student account, and you will be required to comply with all terms and conditions of the Meal Plan Contract.

Dietary Choices and Accommodations

Dining Services strives to provide nourishing dining options that meet dietary needs in all campus dining locations.

  • Vegan and vegetarian options are available in all campus dining locations.
  • Halal options are available in all campus dining locations. Non-Halal options and products containing pork served in the Dining Commons are served at a specific station, and are clearly marked for quick verification.
  • Allergen information for the top nine allergens is available at all campus dining locations, and updated menus with allergen information for the Dining Commons are posted on the Dining Services website.

Students can connect with a Registered Dietitian through the Dining Services Ask a Dietitian process to discuss healthy dining and navigate Dining Services with food allergies, intolerances, or conditions.

If you have a physical, mental health, or other disability and believe you need a reasonable accommodation or modification in order to have an equal opportunity and meaningful access to Dining Services, documentation from an appropriate licensed professional supporting your request must be provided to the CLASS Disability Resources office. Requests are reviewed and evaluated on a case-by-case basis in collaboration with Augsburg Dining Services.  Questions about disability-related accommodations may be directed to CLASS/Disability Resources at (612) 330-1053 or class@augsburg.edu.

Residential Meal Plan Appeals

Students may submit a Residential Meal Plan Appeal Request to request a reduction or cancellation of a residential meal plan for circumstances unrelated to reasonable accommodations for disability.

In the Residential Meal Plan Appeal Request, the student must demonstrate extenuating circumstances that Dining Services cannot address. Most students’ dietary needs, including preferences, allergies, intolerances, and religious and cultural practices, can be met by Dining Services.  Appeals will not be granted for financial hardship, food allergies, food intolerances, or vegan/vegetarian diets.

For Fall 2026, the deadline to submit Residential Meal Plan Appeal Request is Tuesday, September 8, 2026. For Spring 2026, the deadline to submit Residential Meal Plan Appeal Request is Tuesday, January 26, 2027.

No appeal requests will be considered after these deadlines. Submitting an appeal request does not guarantee the request will be granted. All communication regarding decisions on appeal requests will be sent to the student’s Augsburg email account. All decisions on residential meal plan appeal requests are final.
