In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 Augsburg University Department of Public Safety is giving notice of a concerning incident that occurred in Sverdrup Hall on the Minneapolis campus.

REPORTED OFFENSE:  Sexual Assault

On 1/27/23, Augsburg’s Department of Public Safety received a report that a student was sexually assaulted by another student in Sverdrup Hall earlier in the day. The assault involved intimate touching without consent.

Through information provided and investigation DPS identified the student alleged to have been involved, and that student has been restricted from campus pending a Title IX investigation.

STATUS: Augsburg Public Safety and the Augsburg Title IX office are currently investigating this incident. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is urged to contact Augsburg Department of Public Safety or the Title IX office.

Augsburg University is moving in-person classes that start at 4:30 p.m. or later in Minneapolis and Rochester to a virtual or alternative format on Tuesday evening due to the ongoing winter storm.

Alert Date: 11-23-22 Incident Date: 11-12-22 through 11-19-22

Offense: Motor Vehicle Theft

Location: 23rd Ave near Kennedy Center and Lot B

Between 11/12/22 and 11/19/22 there have been motor vehicles stolen on campus. One was taken from 23rd Avenue near Kennedy Center and two were taken from Lot B. In at least two of the incidents entry was made into the vehicles by breaking out a window. There may have been two additional attempts during the same time frame involving forced entry and damage to steering columns. It is believed each of the incidents took place during the early evening hours.

Augsburg public Safety and the Minneapolis Police Department are investigating these offenses. Anyone with any information regarding these incidents is asked to call Augsburg Department of Public Safety at 612-330-1717.

Be aware of your surroundings.   Lock your doors.   Report people tailgating into buildings. Watch your valuables – do not leave valuables unattended.  Lock your vehicle and keep valuables out of sight.  Walk in groups or call Public Safety for an escort.  Stay in well lit areas if possible.  Report suspicious activity IMMEDIATELY!

Armed Robbery

In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 Augsburg University Department of Public Safety is giving notice of a concerning incident that occurred in Lot L on the Minneapolis campus.

REPORTED OFFENSE:  Armed Robbery

Today, April 16, Augsburg’s Department of Public Safety received a report that at around 7:05 a.m. an attempted armed robbery occurred in Lot L. A non-Augsburg individual was walking toward their car when a male approached her, demanded her money, and pulled out a handgun. The suspect ran off campus without taking anything.  There currently is no description of the suspect, and the Minneapolis Police have been notified of this incident.

STATUS:  Augsburg Public Safety is cooperating with the Minneapolis Police (MPD) investigation of this incident. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is urged to contact MPD or Augsburg Public Safety at 612-330-1717.

Aggravated Assault

In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, Augsburg University Department of Public Safety is giving notice of a concerning incident that occurred, as reported below, outside Lindell Library on the Minneapolis campus.

REPORTED OFFENSE:  Aggravated Assault

Today, April 12, Augsburg’s Department of Public Safety received a report that at approximately 5:00 p.m., a non-Augsburg affiliated individual was shot during an altercation outside of Lindell Library. Witnesses stated that an individual got into a fight with three suspects inside of Lindell Library. The altercation moved outside near 22nd Ave, at which point, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the leg. All three suspects fled in a brown/red Ford SUV with the license plate DZA-454. Minneapolis Police (MPD) and Augsburg Public Safety quickly arrived on scene after the incident and secured the area.  It is important to note that this was a non-police-involved shooting.
