Tuition and Fees
The PsyD in Clinical Psychology program requires 98 credits (plus internship) to meet graduation requirements. The cost per credit hour is $1,220 X 98 credits for a total of $119,560. The 1-year internship tuition cost is $3,660. Therefore, the estimated total tuition for the PsyD program (including internship) is $123,220.
PsyD fees include a $82 materials fee for PRP 742 Objective Personality Assessment, and a $14 fee per semester for Assessment training throughout the program.
There is a $50 PsyD fee for comps administration, assessed in the year the student takes comps.
Other costs vary. Augsburg University estimates the cost of books and supplies for full-time students to be approximately $300 per semester. Actual costs per semester for PsyD students may vary; costs are likely to be higher than $300 per semester in the first two years of the program, and lower in the last two years.
Augsburg University estimates the cost of room and board for full-time students as $9,666 per semester. PsyD students generally do not live on campus, and your actual costs for room and board may therefore vary.

Augsburg Tuition Grants
A student may use one tuition grant. Tuition grant programs are listed below:
Alumni Grant – Augsburg University graduates receive a grant of $80 off per credit for the entire program.
Americorps/Peace Corps/Lutheran Services Corp Tuition Grant – Students who have completed a term of service with AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or Lutheran Volunteer Corps receive a grant of $80 off per credit for the entire program.
Legacy Grant – Student’s who have had parents, grandparents, siblings or a spouse who received their degree from Augsburg University are eligible for this grant. The grant amount for the for graduate programs is $80 off per credit. This grant is made available to students at the time of their admission only and may not be used concurrently with any other institutional scholarship or grant program.
Military Grant – Students who have served in the United States Military receive a grant of $80 off per credit for the entire program.
Parent Grant – Students who have a child who is currently attending Augsburg University are eligible to receive a grant. The grant continues for the parent/guardian until the parent/guardian graduates. The graduation timeline for the child has no impact on the grant continuing for the parent/guardian. The grant amount for graduate programs is $80 off per credit.
Partnership Grant – Students who are employed by one of Augsburg’s partner organizations at the point of admission or once in the program receive a tuition grant of $80 off per credit for the entire program. Learn more about the Partnership grant, and see a list of our partner organizations.
Partnership Referral Grant – Student’s who have a referral from someone that could have qualified for a partnership grant (ex: spouse that works at Wells Fargo) are eligible for this grant. The grant amount for graduate programs is $80 off per credit. This grant is made available to students at the time of their admission only and may not be used concurrently with any other institutional scholarship or grant program.

INSTITUTIONAL Financial opportunities
PsyD Dean’s Scholarship – New Students Only
The purpose of the PsyD Scholarship is to encourage and reward high levels of potential for leadership in the area of clinical psychology. The award will consist of a scholarship equivalent to 25% of the tuition for the program. Successful applicants will meet the minimum criteria:
- Acceptance into the Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology program;
- Educational performance – based on undergraduate or graduate grade point average (minimum 3.25);
- Evidence of demonstrated clinical experience or scholarship, as determined by your statement of interests and accomplishments.
Once awarded, the scholarship will be credited to tuition on a pro-rata basis as the student progresses through the program, so long as the student remains in good academic standing, in compliance with the Student Conduct Code, and a full-time student.
PsyD Silver Award – New Students Only
The PsyD Silver Award seeks to promote greater inclusion of people of color and native peoples as future leaders in the clinical psychology field. This non-renewable award of up to $10,000 will be credited towards tuition over 2 semesters as long as the student remains a full-time student in good academic standing and in compliance with the Student Conduct Code. Successful award candidates will meet the minimum criteria:
- Accepted into the Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology Program;
- Identify as a person of color or native person.
- Evidence of demonstrated clinical experience or scholarship, as determined by your statement of interests and accomplishments.
Applicants who have been accepted into the PsyD program who meet the scholarship and/or award criteria will be eligible for the priority deadline of February 1st. Those who have been accepted after the priority deadline and those not offered a scholarship or award at the time of the priority deadline of January 15th will be eligible for the final deadline of April 1st. Although accepted applicants can be eligible, there is an additional application process for those being considered.
