Events and Volunteering

The Augsburg University PA Program aims to foster a sense of community and service for the local residents around the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We welcome our students, friends, and family of Augsburg to participate and volunteer with local organizations.

Our program partners with a range of community-focused organizations that allow our PA students to get hands-on experience during their didactic work. Students are expected to get involved within the communities they want to serve by volunteering with these and other local organizations who are providing care to the medically and socially underserved.

We have worked and done immersion experiences with the following:

  • Augsburg University Health Commons
    • The Living Room
    • Cedar Riverside
    • Central Lutheran
  • Special Olympics Minnesota
  • Face to Face Youth Care
  • Anishinabe Wakiagun (The People’s Home)
  • Breaking Free

Each year, as part of the Augsburg University’s tradition, the PA program starts the Fall semester off with a Day of Service by volunteering as a whole class. We believe that connecting as a cohort not only helps break the ice and grow stronger as a group, but serving the community around us strengthens the commitment to the kind of medical providers we strive to become and teach. Our latest Day of Service was held at Secondhand Harvest, a local organization that provides food to local shelves and food pantries in order to provide food to families around MN & WI who suffer from food insecurity.

Keep checking in to see new events and volunteering opportunities. As a program we host various fundraiser drives, donation drives, and even fundraiser run/walks that people outside of the program are welcome to participate in.
