The Augsburg University PA Program aims to foster a sense of community and service for the local residents around the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We welcome our students, friends, and family of Augsburg to participate and volunteer with local organizations.

PA Program Student Events:
March 4th, 2023: Polar Plunge
10:30 am – 12:30 pm at Lake Nokomis

Join the Augsburg PA program as we freeze for a cause. The Polar Plunge raises funds for the Special Olympics, and we are looking to make a splash and join in. You can register to join the plunge, or volunteer to help run the event behind the scenes during the day of the plunge. Make an account on Polar Plunge MN and add team “Augsburg PA 2024″*
*”Each Plunger must raise a minimum of $75 in order to participate. Online donations are not transferrable to other Plungers once the transaction is complete. At the time of check-in, donations may be distributed among team members if a Plunger has not yet raised $75. Please note: Distribution of donations at check-in will affect donation totals and corresponding incentive levels of those Plunger distributing funds to their teammates.”
May/June 2023: The Fun Run

Get some sun and have some fun! The Fun Run, hosted annually by the PA Program, helps raise funds for the program in order to support the student’s outreach around the community, and the continued success of our students. Learn more about signing up for this even when we get closer to the time.

PA Program faculty and students can help high schoolers learn about careers in healthcare with hands-on activities and lessons geared towards the various ranges of skills required in the health field.

Ongoing: Special Olympics MedFest & Healthy Athletes

Athletes with intellectual disabilities need proper health screenings before competing in sporting events with the Special Olympics. Help out during MedFest events to provide blood pressure checks, vision, hearing, and many more health indication tests to these talented athletes.

Come help distribute hygiene supplies and basic care to community members at this drop-in site. As part of the Augsburg University mission to provide care to those most underserved, the drop-in primarily assists those experiencing marginalized housing and homelessness. We strive to foster an environment of compassion, respect, and mutual care.

The Ladder is an organization dedicated to helping support youth with the guidance and mentorship from professional health care providers. Members are encouraged to teach those less experienced than them, and learn from those with more experience as a way to lift one another up and pay it forward.

Feed My Starving Children is an organization that provides nutritionally sound meals for children across the globe. Volunteers can help pack meals and see the process from beginning all the way to the delivery of the meals to their destination. FMSC stays connected to each community that receives the meals in order to foster growth and development for all residents.
