The Office of the Registrar complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) that governs the release of and access to student education records and gives students certain rights with respect to their education records.
Please be aware that the Office of the Registrar makes student privacy our highest priority. While FERPA states that we may release directory information, it does not require that we release it. Below are examples of types of data requests that we decline to fulfill:
- Requests for non-directory information. We will release non-directory information to a school official who has a legitimate educational interest and needs the information in order to fulfill their professional responsibility.
- Requests for sweeping lists of students, for the purpose of advertising courses, programs, events, etc. Please utilize the A-mail publication for the purpose of educating the community about these opportunities.
- Requests made by students for either their own or other students’ information. Students should access their educational record in Records & Registration or use the Request to Inspect Student Educational Records form on the Registrar’s website.
To request current student data,* please complete the Augsburg Student Data Request form. The Registrar’s Office tries to process data requests in a timely manner. Please allow 5 business days for requests.
*Requests for historical student data should be directed to Katy Hahn, Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
