SOAR welcomes new Auggies and families

soarFrom July 20-25, Augsburg College will welcome new Auggies and their families to campus for SOAR summer orientation. Members of the class of 2016 will attend this overnight experience to meet each other and learn (almost) everything they need to know before their first day of fall classes.

The student program includes a “town hall” meeting with the dean of the College, a session on academic success, time to connect with campus organizations and academic departments at the “showcase,” and an introduction to technology resources as well as public safety. SOAR welcomes new Auggies and families

soarThis week the Augsburg College campus will welcome new Auggies and their families to campus for SOAR—student orientation and registration. Members of the class of 2015 will attend this overnight experience to meet each other and learn (almost) everything they need to know before their first day of fall classes. SOAR student and parent sessions are July 22-28.

The student program includes a “town hall” meeting with President Pribbenow, learning about academic success, connecting with campus organizations and academic departments at the “showcase,” receiving their fall class schedules, and an introduction to technology resources as well as public safety. Welcome Back Auggies!

welcome Soon the serene days of summer will come to an end and Augsburg will once again buzz with activity as new and not-so-new students return to campus. See the Daily A-Mail and the Inside Augsburg calendar for more details and contact information for these and many other welcome-back events.

Highlights of welcome week include Auggie Days, a full schedule of events designed to help new Day students learn about life in the city and how to make the best of their time at Augsburg. Students will take trips to Target, the State Fair, and area museums. The will also learn note-taking strategies and how to manage their time and money. Auggie Days: Welcome to Augsburg College!

auggiedaysAuggie Days is a week-long program, Sept. 1-9, for all first-year students attending Augsburg College. The program is designed not only to provide students with the tools and information needed to successfully transition into college life, but also to get to know Augsburg, the city, the neighborhood and fellow classmates.

Throughout the week, students will learn and talk about issues relevant to college life, such as academic preparation, diversity and social responsibility, getting involved on campus, and making healthy lifestyle choices.
